PHYSICAL STATE OF BEING RECALL
被召回的物理状态

Here is a more complex exercise using the process developed in the
previous set that does involve feelings.
Lie down on a bed or the floor.
Relax completely (but don’t fall asleep!).

Try to think of a particular occasion when you experienced extreme
heat. Wait until you’ve actually pinpointed the event before
proceeding slowly, a step at a time.

Try to remember where you were? Outdoors? Indoors? What was
the space?
Where were you in the space? What were you doing? Sitting?

What was around you? Try to remember the details of the things
around you.
What was below you? What was above you? Sky? Ceiling? Can
you remember the specific details of the objects around you?
Were there other people with you? What were they wearing?

Keep going over the sensory details in your mind. If you are
relaxed and open you will find that the physical sensation of heat
will return to your body as it did on that occasion. This same exercise
can be used for any physical state, i.e., cold, nausea, etc.
请在你的头脑中遍及的感官细节。如果你是轻松和开放的,你会发现,身体感觉热将返回到你的身体,因为它没有在那个场合。此相同的运动可用于任何物理状态,即冷,恶心等。
Why does this happen? Because, as I have stated, it is my
belief that the brain acts like a computer, storing all experience in
its bank. If, in the process of recall, you punch up certain buttons in
your brain’s computer memory associated with the sensory details
of the event, the brain will reproduce the physical state.

All of the aforementioned barre exercises for the actor are
muscle stretches for the most useful and important element in an
actor’s preparation of the recreation of a character.

EMOTIONAL MEMORY EXERCISE

The ability to organically reproduce an emotional state or prepare
for the creation of the behavior of the character can be developed
with the same type of exercise. Remember one must always start
with relaxation and concentration.

This is particularly crucial in
this exercise because the psyche often buries feelings—especially
painful ones—and the brain has to be as receptive as possible to get
past the inhibitions and blocks that might lurk as obstacles.

Try to remember a time when you experienced deep grief.
Do not try to recall the feeling, just remember the specific occasion.
It seems we have difficulty recreating feelings intellectually.
